Gearhart Fine Furnishings may be a brand new store, but the proprietor, George Daggatt, is not a new kid on the block. Daggatt has lived in Clatsop County for about 60 years, and was the general manager of a furniture store in Klamath Falls before returning to the coast in January 2007 to start his own business. "I am hoping to serve a clientele from Oysterville to Manzanita. So far, having been open since June, I have delivered to Long Beach and Arch Cape, so I'm getting there," says Daggatt.
What he is delivering is a carefully selected collection of furnishings for bedroom, living room and dining room. The Robert Michael sofas he showcases, which come with a lifetime warranty, are beautifully styled and too comfortable for words. The recliners are by Catnapper, a 100-year-old business that is still getting it right, and the mattresses are manufactured by Restonic, which Consumer Reports has rated a "Best Buy" for six years running.
In addition to fine furniture, Daggatt offers interior design consultation at no charge by an ASID member, as well as accessories, including prints, original paintings, candles and decorative objects.
